Let’s raise a glass to Harvest 2018 πŸ₯‚

As harvest is now complete I thought now was a good time to share the harvest news

The weather has been exceptional this year as I’m sure you will agree and this years bounty of quality grapes shall stand us in good stead forΒ  “vintage 2018” a year to remember.

The growing season began in earnest with bud burst mid April, flowering early June and by the middle of June fruit set. All in all the seasons have been just as we required, a little dry at one point but when the rain came it was gentle and the grapes swelled nicely.

Harvest began 27th September with a bounty of both Siegerrebe and Pinot Noir PrΓ©coce all hand harvested. Our total harvest in all grape varieties excelled in tonnage and with great analysisΒ  indicating a good balance in Sugar and acidity. As with all farming when growing crops you are in the lap of the gods with regards to the weather however the autumn sunshine has been a blessing with our last date of harvest being Sunday 21st October despite earlier predictions of early harvesting this year.

Our Seyval grapes destined for Sparkling wine sure had the benefit of the autumn sunshine and this year we managed to escape frost damage Hooray Hooray.

Already we have visitors reserving bottles of Pinot Noir 🍷 from this years harvest.

Thankfully at harvest we have been supported by good friends, family and a few Adopt a vine holders without you all we could never manage Thank you all.
