Harvest 2023

The shifting of the seasons calls for a camera to capture the soon to be tapestry of colour across the vineyard. The early growing season was on target, however autumn has given us a few challenges with rain, rain and more rain.

Having made a start on Harvest these next few weeks shall be a rollercoaster of a ride with all hands to the grapevines as and when the weather and the all important grape juice analysis dictates.

Our first days harvesting gave us a considerable bounty, our second largest bounty to date, thankfully we had the help of friends, family and our Adopt a vine holders and we were finished by lunchtime. As tradition we all had lunch and of course wine to toast our start of harvest.

Row after row of Robust Rondo stole the show.

The aromatic bronzed Siegerrebe WOWED our helpers.

The noble Pinot Noir Précoce, our flagship wine never fails to impress.

Hot off the Press
We have released our quality Welsh Sparkling wine vintage 2019 and WOW well worth the wait, toasty notes indicative of lees ageing, infact 38 months lees aged.

Barrel 48
Has been released !!! Yes released, be sure not to miss out, once it’s gone it’s gone. A limited release of just 270 bottles.

Barrel talk! you may have seen the safe arrival of our new barrels.

News on the Winery.
Finally White Castle Vineyards Winery is now much more than on a wish list of Robbs. It’s early days but we have the steels in position and it’s onwards and upwards from now on. It shall be our winter project along with the pruning of now 13,500 vines, oh yes we are going to be busy!!

Meanwhile Robb and I shall be visiting Windsor Castle on December 19th and Robb will receive his MBE for services to Viticulture, we are both excited and will share as much of the day with you all with photographs.

And that will take us nicely into the festive season, stocking the drinks cupboard is one of the best bits of the festive run up, and we have a fine array of quality awardwinning Welsh wines available.

Until next time….. we’ve a harvest to get in!!  many hands make light work.

Nicola & Robb
