10th Anniversary for White Castle Vineyard.

Robb and Nicola Merchant toasted a glass or two to the exact date as they celebrated a 10 year Anniversary since planting their first 4000 vines at White Castle Vineyard in 2009. They were joined by family, friends and returning visitors on Saturday 11th May 2019 to share their success and story of how a dream became a reality for the two. To mark this milestone they have planted 2000 vines a further 1000 Pinot Noir and 1000 first time Cabernet franc on their ground that for years Robb had told Nicola would not be suitable for vines as it was not south facing! So let’s watch this space is what springs to mind says Nicola. The pair have enjoyed their journey so far and feel that they have created a family business, their journey has taken them to Westminster London, Clarence House and their wines were requested in France where they now stand tall at the cite du vin, Bordeaux. They also pride themselves on attaining protected food names for each of their wines as provenance is paramount.

Welsh Wine Week 2019 proved to be the best year so far for White Castle Vineyard. New vintage wines Pinot Noir, Siegerrebe, Rosé and Gwin gwyn set the stall to kick start Welsh Wine Week. Robb and Nicola opened the vineyard gate everyday as part of their celebrations of Welsh Wine Week, offering a free Vineyard tour daily @3pm visitors came from far and wide for many a first to wander a vineyard yet alone a vineyard in Wales.

The vineyard is looking grand at the moment consistent lush vine growth with grape bunches beautifully formed although we have suffered a little frost damage but “hey ho” that’s farming onwards now and hoping for a good summer.

Hot off the press: Friday’s with Rosé are to soon to return.

With the weather getting warmer and the summer sun on its way what’s better than a refreshing chilled glass of Rosé on a summers evening.
